Blackmagic Design ATEM Television Studio HD8 ISO includes all the features of ATEM Television Studio HD8 plus adds ISO recording of all 8 inputs to separate video files. Also supports up to 8 remote cameras via local Ethernet or globally via the internet. Remote cameras even support tally and camera control!

All the connections you need

The HD8 ISO’s back panel may seem complicated, yet it houses almost every field connector. Eight 3G-SDI inputs/outputs with integrated audio let you connect eight video cameras and record them to separate files for editing. Aux outputs, SDI and HDMI/SDI Multiview connectors, and a Main SDI Program Outfit allow projector use, multi-source monitoring, and easier feed recording and transfer. Audio connectors are many! Control room monitoring, Studio speakers, Talkback/headset connection, hi-fi Stereo gear-to-music synchronization, analog mixing, and more are available.

The left rear panel has a Talkback extension connection for use with Clear-Com and RTS systems. Serial Remote control, a 4-port Ethernet bank for computer and internet connections, Timecode inputs and outputs, and MADI Audio microphone extensions are provided. Dual USB-C connectors allow USB flash drive recording and phone streaming. There are inputs/outputs, a 4-pin 12V power connector, and a standard IEC 100-240V AC power connection for easily synchronizing to broadcast systems and using DC power.

Broadcast entirely on your terms

The HD8 ISO’s controls are similarly complicated. Starting in the middle at the top of the panel, immediately to the right of the status display screen, a series of buttons alter program settings for all switcher functions. A number keypad to the right lets users choose effect parameters including transition duration.

Moving left, an audio control module allows you complete control over leveling and processing for each video source in your feed, with speaker and headset selection options above the meters. Keyer and DVE input buss choices are below the audio section. Program and preview buttons in the lower left corner let you double-check film before exporting.

HD8 ISO’s bottom right corner is your visual effects command center. A transition controller for broadcasting your captured stream is here. To the right is a large T-bar fader for manual transition control. Dedicated button grids provide green screen keys, on-screen visuals, and post-transition graphic cueing. Finally, a nearby fade-to-black switch lets you close the performance with a traditional fade!

Built-in Fairlight audio mixer

Thanks to an onboard Fairlight audio mixer, the HD8 ISO can level and sculpt the exact signal you need for a successful-sounding broadcast every time. Switch between a parametric EQ, compressor, limiter, expander, noise gate, and panning controls to dial in the right sound, then set video feeds to “audio-follow-video” as you see fit. It’s all controllable from the control panel of the HD8 ISO but can also be remotely refined from a computer or laptop via the included ATEM Software Control program.

Create your standout look

A professional switcher and control panel without excellent effects? Start with transitions—there are plenty! Professional broadcasts should use Fade, Dip, Wipe, DVE Push/Squeeze, and Graphic Wipe. Duration, border color/width, position, and direction may modify many more shape- and angle-based transitions! The numeric keypad lets you choose transition duration in Auto mode, but the high-quality T-bar lets you set transition speed.

HD8 ISO features several DVEs and transitions! Picture-in-picture graphic compositions enable immediate video call modifications. Custom shadows, lighting, 3D borders, and graphics make show customization simple. The HD8 ISO backs internal media with 20 HD stills and 400-frame 720HD/200-frame 1080HD motion graphics for animation. The free ATEM Photoshop plug-in lets you download Photoshop artwork directly.

Four ATEM advanced chroma keyers provide backdrops, flare, edge, and color matching for fixed-camera virtual sets. SuperSourcing four DVE layers, including live video, to the HD8 ISO after configuring your background. Interviews, multi-view games, and exciting events need HD8 ISO!

Streams, recording, and smart connections

Also within the HD8 ISO lies a powerful hardware streaming engine that enables your captured feeds to reach a global audience quickly and with as few snags as possible. You can stream via Ethernet or 4G and 5G smartphones to popular platforms such as YouTube, Facebook, Twitch, Twitter, Vimeo, and more. Plus, when you tether your phone to the USB port, it not only charges but also unlocks a new and ultra-convenient world of mobile production that perfectly accompanies the mobile nature of the HD8 ISO. Devices can even be detected as a backup Internet connection if the Ethernet connection is interrupted. And are you looking to record your feeds and streams to multiple USB flash disks or even directly to internal cloud storage? It’s no problem at all for the HD8 ISO!

ISO delivers even more freedom

With HD8 ISO, you can timecode and sync all eight camera feeds to edit any event. All recorded footage automatically saves to a master video file, and all audio records to separate WAV files. What does this mean for you? It means you can go back in post production and visually/audibly alter your broadcasts to remix audio or adjust color grading and more with any software that supports multi-cam editing! There is even support for DaVinci Resolve when you download for free to your Mac or PC, unlocking an entire world of post production — including trimming and removing shots that your feed doesn’t need.

But the HD8 ISO doesn’t just make editing easier. Now, you can remotely send your eight Internet camera feeds and stream directly to the switcher without sacrificing camera control and tally. Think of the creative potential of your broadcasts without being tied down by cables!
