The Nektar Panorama T4 Keyboard Controller is a high-quality keyboard controller built for artists and producers looking for a small and portable choice that doesn’t skimp on capability. It has a velocity-sensitive 49-key keyboard with aftertouch that delivers a genuine piano-like sensation and expressiveness. The Panorama T4 provides strong integration with major DAWs such as Ableton Live, Logic Pro X, Cubase, and Reason, as does its bigger brother, the Panorama P6. This integration enables you to operate your DAW from the Panorama T4’s interface, including mixing, transport, and instrument settings.
Your Panorama T4 boasts Nektar’s second-generation Panorama synth-action keybed. The keys are dampened and meticulously balanced for medium activation force across the keyboard. There is also a choice of five velocity curves that shift the tension from soft to hard to suit any playing style. Further, a fixed option lets you set velocity values via controls such as the pitch and mod wheels. Assignable aftertouch makes it effortless to modulation sounds while playing two-handed parts. The first-generation Panorama keybeds received high marks among musicians. Now the T4 takes expressiveness and playing feel to a new level.
Keyboardists are finger drummers, so they’ll adore the Panorama T4’s eight huge velocity and pressure-sensitive performance pads. The expressive T4 pads make beat making easy. They catch ghost notes and flams perfectly at a low threshold. Individual pad calibration improves performance. The pads may be given any MIDI note number or CC message for usage as MIDI trigger or toggle buttons. Sound assignment is simple. Pad Learn, a pad, and a keyboard note or drum sound assign it. The Pad Bank Button left of the pads unlocks eight more pads, giving each pad map 16 pads. Eight pad maps are instantly accessible.
Nektar DAW Integration automatically maps specialized drum synthesizers like Bitwig’s Drum Machine and Reason’s Kong Drum Designer to the T4 pads for a tight, integrated drum machine feel with complete LED color feedback. Pad Repeat lets you generate rhythmic chordal patterns by assigning chords to pads. The Velocity Spread soft-key on the LED display rapidly distributes your last played note over all 16 pads, each with its own set velocity, making complex, consistent dynamics effortless. Need constant velocity? VelFix covers the T4.
Located just above the pitch-bend and modulation wheels are the Key Repeat and Pad Repeat buttons. The Repeat function repeats at the set rate. Change the rate in real time from 1/4 to 1/96 note values, change tempo, add a bit of swing, or set an accent interval. The pads and keys have independent repeat settings, so you can set one for the drum beat and the other for another instrument. The Repeat’s trigger mode can be set to sync with the beat or to repeat from when you play a note. The Clock source can be set for either internal or external MIDI clock. Whether you’re creating repetitive chord progressions or adding flams to drum beats, the T4’s Repeat feature is a creative way to explore ideas and capitalize on “happy accidents.”
