Sampled vintage keyboards
Electric Keys utilised 50 well-maintained antique instruments from Fender, Yamaha, Korg, Roland, Hammond, Wurlitzer, Hohner, Elka, Farfisa, Mellotron, Moog, RMI, Arp, and others.
Electric Keys’ 32-bit UVI playback engine plays most instrument sounds at any common sample rate, including 24-bit 96 kHz. Presets are multi-samples with several velocities, layers, and/or release samples. Since disc samples are streamed, large presets load rapidly and save memory. Users may install just the banks they want on their hard drive since sounds are organised into 12 banks, each with a distinctive “skin.”. MachFive 2 stacks Electric Keys settings.
Simple interface
The Electric Keys window has volume, pan, tone, and tremolo controls, two preset slots, and a multi-column preset browser for layering two sounds. When a preset loads, the backdrop shows the “skin” for the associated bank, but the controls and their function stay the same. After loading one or two sounds, the user may play and change settings, while CPU-efficient 256-note polyphony prevents voice-stealing.
Right-clicking controls to assign MIDI controllers automates all settings. Users may load and store “combis” that capture the plug-in and its effects. Plug-in formats and the stand-alone version may share combis across computer systems. Presets and combis are given.
Playback highlights the three-dimensional piano keys across the bottom of the Electric Keys display. Clicking keys plays sounds.
Separate multi-effects rack
The FX button opens the FX-Rack, a panel containing eight effects that may be applied individually or as a multi-effect to any preset. Amp simulation, filter, chorus, flanger, phaser, UVinyl (“wear and tear”), delay, and reverb. Users may experiment with almost unlimited combinations of effects and presets since effects can be loaded, generated, and stored independently of instrument presets. One-click “MIDI Learn” CC assignments automate all effects settings.
