Mackie designed the EM-98MS to deliver pro-level results. This USB shotgun microphone comes with a fully variable gain control that allows you to set the perfect level for your application. Meanwhile, two selectable highpass filters at 75Hz and 150Hz keep low-frequency rumble from interfering with the audio. The EM-98MS’s useful overdrive protection mode provides a second copy of the signal with 10dB less output to give you extra gain to play with in post. Finally, the on/off feature automatically powers the mic on or off with your device.
When you’re capturing on-location audio, the conditions can change in a flash. And if you have the EM-98MS, you’ll be ready for just about anything. The mic has a cold-shoe shockmount that keeps low-frequency rumble out of the signal; use the foam windscreen to guard against plosives if there’s no wind. And when things start to get gusty, just slip on the furry windscreen to stop wind noise in its tracks. The EM-98MS can be mounted to a 3/8-inch tripod and includes a compact carrying case to keep all your accessories organized in one place.
