Fretless, with fret-line markers
Jaco’s “Bass of Doom” fretted-to-fretless conversion is shrouded in mystery. He probably removed the frets, filled the holes with wood filler, sanded, and coated the fingerboard with marine epoxy to withstand roundwound strings.
