Monterey Standard is a flexible mid-sized concert body guitar. Fender’s luthiers utilise sapele everywhere except the fingerboard to demonstrate their skill. Sapele, like mahogany, is well-balanced, harmonically rich, and projective. Sapele, unlike mahogany, has more treble articulation and sheen, making it suitable for both strummed and fingerstyle playing styles. Walnut’s fingerboard adds sheen, bell-like resonance, and deep overtones to sapele’s sonics, creating a tonewood dyad with tenacious, organic, powerful tones.

Fender’s 24.75-inch scale’s 20 frets and 12-inch radius make it playable. Most players like the satin “C”-shaped neck. Quartersawn, scalloped “X” bracing improves projection and clarity.
