Ribbon microphones are great, however many microphone preamplifiers are too weak to obtain adequate signal. Cloudlifter Mic Activators use an active circuit supplied by your console or preamp’s phantom power to add up to +25dB of gain, making even a cheap console a ribbon preamp.
