The Akai MPD226 MIDI Controller is a part pad controller, part control surface, and totally ready to rock. It enables you to configure your music-creation to match your preferred working style. The same 16 MPC pads that have encouraged music producers to suggest Akai Professional equipment for decades serve as the product’s foundation, and things only get better from there. It’s simple to color code your layout thanks to the RGB illumination beneath those pads, which is particularly useful when moving between four banks of pad assignments. On the other side of the MPD226, there are four sliders, each with an assignable button and encoder. You can use these to set up track controls, ADSR envelopes, EQs, and much more. Top it off with classic MPC Note Repeat, dedicated transport controls, and a killer software package, and the MPD226 is a creative goldmine.
