Whether you’re recording in the studio, taking direct output feeds off of an analog mixer, or using it live onstage, the MOTU Ultralite AVB gives you the flexibility and low latency you need. Like the rest of MOTU’s popular AVB-equipped audio interfaces, the Ultralite AVB lets you send and receive analog and digital audio across a standard network. The internal mixer also includes all kinds of DSP processing, summing, and routing options too, and between its high-speed USB 2.0 connectivity and additional optical I/O, you can easily expand the capabilities of your MOTU Ultralite AVB.

Versatile I/O for the flexibility you need

We’ve had a great connection with MOTU since they consistently produce high-quality sound at cheap costs. The Ultralite AVB continues this tradition, putting several great-sounding inputs and outputs into a very inexpensive transportable device. This contains a 10-in/6-out analogue I/O with two great microphone preamps, two HiZ guitar inputs, and a 117dB dynamic range that rivals the best gear. The Ultralite AVB also has optical I/O for digital inputs and MIDI in and out for keyboards and other controllers.

Powerful built-in effects and routing

When linked via USB or utilising the Ultralite AVB solo, the inbuilt DSP mixer has several benefits. This digital mixer provides 48 inputs (through AVB extension) and 12 stereo buses, enabling you to build up incredibly complicated routing schemes without a computer. If you connect a wifi router to your Ultralite AVB, you may use an app on your iOS iPhone or any WiFi-connected device to access all of its internal mixing features, converting it into a standalone mixer. The Ultralite AVB’s DSP EQ, compression, gate, and reverb—including the built-in accurate model of the legendary LA-2A optical compressor for vintage, musical automatic gain control—are useful in the studio and onstage.

Another extremely cool use of the Ultralite AVB’s Ethernet connection is the ability to link more MOTU AVB equipped audio interfaces to it. You can do this in one of two ways: directly via a simple Ethernet cable or as part of an audio network via one or more MOTU AVB Switch. If you go with just a single Ethernet cable, you can easily link a second Ultralite AVB or other AVB ready device directly to your first one. With MOTU AVB Switches, you can create an audio network of up to five units, potentially linking hundreds of channels of I/O across multiple rooms. And since it’s all over standard Cat-5e Ethernet cable, latency or cable runs aren’t any kind of issue.
