From Radiohead’s early days, Ed O’Brien has been conjuring otherworldly tones from his guitar that suit their artistic landscape and now he does it with his very own signature Fender EOB Ed O’Brien Stratocaster. This guitar boasts the familiar alder and maple Strat platform, while diverging with a creative electronics package.

You’ll find a Duncan JB Jr in the bridge for hotter output, a Fender Texas Special single-coil in the middle position, and a Sustainer Driver in the neck with a wide variety of controls. The EOB Stratocaster takes Fender tones to a whole new level.

Familiar design

Stratocasters may be the most famous solidbody electric guitars. It’s a blues machine for Clapton, a fire-breather for Yngwie, and a fresh sound for Radiohead’s Ed O’Brien. What attracts so many guitarists to the Strat is its comfort and versatility in singing.

Classic tonewood construction

Alder and maple is the classic tonewood mix for the EOB Strat. A lighter wood like alder has a balanced tone with good sustain. Fenders have loved it for decades. The maple neck has a maple fingerboard for clarity and attack on any rig. The neck’s 10/56 “V” shape fills your palm reassuringly without slowing you down.

Electronics offer unending flexibility

Electronics distinguish O’Brien’s Strat from most others. The three pickup locations have very distinct designs, enabling you to access tones other instruments can’t. The neck Sustainer Driver pickup has two tiny toggles for on/off and fundamental, harmonic, and mix voices. The centre position has a reliable Texas Special single-coil.
