The advanced Blackmagic Design ATEM 1 M/E 4K model switches between SD, HD or Ultra HD video standards so you can connect a wide range of video sources such as cameras, disk recorders and computers. Featuring 10 inputs, chroma keys, transitions, media pool, 4 upstream keyers, downstream keyers, audio mixer, multi view, full motion DVE, stinger transitions, large media pool with full motion clips and 3 auxiliary outputs!
Production-minded performance
You can connect to almost any source with 6G-SDI connections for professional video gear and HDMI 4K connectors for SD, HD, or Ultra HD! Each input’s converter converts any source to the switcher’s standard. Each input receives a distinct television standard and outputs a single signal, saving time! SDI, HDMI, balanced XLR 2-channel audio, and a reference input with Blackburst and Tri-Level Sync keep incoming inputs in sync.
An integrated frame resynchronizer makes consumer HDMI cameras and PowerPoint presentations compatible. Two 1080i HD multiview outputs operate with any TV or monitor, reviving old consumer equipment for studio use. Monitoring and mastering are simpler than ever with aux and preview outputs. Each aux channel may be designated individually for feeding big televisions, a great function. Bypassing on-air graphics sends a “clean feed” to master recorders and sophisticated technical readouts using Blackmagic’s SmartScope Duo 4K (sold separately).

Top-notch transitions, effects, and keyers
This ATEM has several keyers, two media players, and strong I/O. Logos, stingers, branding, and photo stacking all be added fast using these tools. This ATEM’s dedicated media pool holds up to 32 UHD still frames for live recall with fast loading through the control software or direct downloads from Adobe Photoshop CC utilizing an associated plug-in. Full-motion DVE and professional transition effects including cut, mix, dip, and wipe are available. Six keyers—four upstream, two downstream—with chroma, luma, and linear patterns overlay lower thirds, graphics, and animations. The chroma keyer’s color picker instantly selects a backdrop color and automatically creates key settings for clean virtual sets—perfect for weather segments, distant interviews, and more. Keyers may create picture-in-picture layers and transition effects using mix and timing parameters. This ATEM delivers professional, unique appearances in quick time!
NOTE: The ATEM media pools supports all popular image formats including PNG, TGA, BMP, GIF, JPEG, and TIFF.
Endless customization and control
No attachments needed—the front panel’s 2-inch LCD display and LED buttons handle all I/O. However, Blackmagic’s free ATEM Software Control program for Mac or Windows offers practically endless workflow flexibility, switcher control, media uploads, and audio mixing. An ATEM Advanced Panel or ATEM Camera Control Panel for remote control (available separately) may boost hardware power to the ATEM. Developers will also appreciate the free ATEM software development kit for building automation control solutions!

This switcher works with studio mixers, cellphones, and old consumer electronics through balanced 2-channel XLR, hi-fi stereo RCA connections, and SDI or HDMI inputs. Any video signal may incorporate and mix audio, giving you a built-in multichannel audio mixer. These capabilities shine with the ATEM Software Control for a Mac or PC mixing interface. The software interface displays all audio channels on one screen with faders and controls for balancing, monitor levels, and more. “Audio Follow Video” allows smooth, automated crossfades when switching inputs.
