Description
The first truly portable analog synthesizer was released in 1971. Although it was rather pricey and could be temperamental, keyboard heavies of the era were quick to embrace it; and in the ensuing decades, its celebrated sounds graced countless concerts, records, and film scores. Now we is excited to present to you Behringer’s homage to that iconic monosynth, and there are some exciting surprises waiting for all synthesists who have been aching to get their hands on one of these legendary synths. First off, the Behringer Poly D Polyphonic Synthesizer packs four voices of polyphony — instead of one — inside its classic, 37-key wood-trimmed chassis; and second — it is amazingly affordable! Otherwise, it packs all the features of the original — and then some.
Â
Insanely fat sounds
Progressive rock, jazz fusion, new wave, and synth-pop will always remember the 1970s and 1980s’ inspired synth tunes. The Poly D’s pure analog signal route with legendary VCO, VCF, and VCA circuits enables you re-create that enchantment or create unique, incurably obese sounds and forge your own creative path.

Â
Your musical time machine
With the Behringer Poly D, you can quickly and easily whip up virtually any monophonic — or polyphonic — analog synth sound you can dream up. The all-analog signal path is based on authentic VCO, VCF, VCA, and ladder filter designs working in concert with four fully analog triangle/square wave VCOs (the original had three). Playing a Poly D is like firing up your own musical time machine, where you can go retro — or craft the future!

True to the original
Behringer replicated the D-type circuitry using matched transistors and JFETs, ultra-high-precision 0.1% thin film resistors, and polyphenylene sulfide capacitors. The Poly D can create ultra-fat basses, blazing lead tones, breathtaking effects, classic prog rock organ sounds, and your wildest creative desires.

Â
Three modes to choose from
Poly D offers monophonic, polyphonic, and unison modes. Mono is a monosynth like the original D with bigger bass lines, searing solos, and swoopy portamentos. Play up to four-note chords to create lush chord harmonies and pads that give your song personality. Unison Mode adds harmonic richness to your music by mixing all four Poly D voices. Behringer incorporates a J60-modeled BBD Stereo analog Chorus and a DS1-modeled analog Distortion (overdrive) circuit.

Four versatile VCOs
The Poly D contains four flexible Voltage Controlled Oscillators (VCOs) with five waveforms for creating blockbuster sounds. Oscillators 1, 2, and 3 provide triangular, triangular/saw, saw, square, broad pulse, and narrow pulse waves; OSC 4 delivers triangular, reverse saw, saw, square, wide pulse, and narrow pulse waves. All four VCOs may be adjusted throughout a six-octave range (LO, 32′, 16′, 8′, 4′, and 2′). This amazing versatility lets you be creative.

Legendary Ladder filter
The Poly D’s 24dB Ladder Filter is its soul. Behringer’s rendition of this classic design enables you flexibly alter Cutoff Frequency, Emphasis, and Contour. The Poly D’s Filter Mode switch lets you choose a low- or highpass operating range. Attack, Decay, and Sustain controls may change cutoff frequency over time.

Beaucoup knobularity and connectivity
Poly D’s 84 controls in a conventional, straightforward arrangement make music-making fun and make you grin. The Poly D has aftertouch, BBD Stereo analog Chorus, analog Distortion, an arpeggiator, and a 32-step Sequencer. It has USB/MIDI and DIN MIDI In, Out, and Thru; After Pressure (aftertouch) and Velocity outputs with dedicated volume controls; internal and external V-Trig I/O; and external Loudness, Filter, OSC, and modulation source outputs.
